EDUCATING YOUNG PIONEERS

On the eighth night of Hanukkah in 1975, thousands of young, ambitious pioneers gathered at an abandoned railroad near Sebastia, the site of the ancient Israelite city that bore the name “Samaria,” with one goal in mind—to finally begin rebuilding Samaria. They knew if one community was established in Samaria, many others would follow. Due to their unwavering and unbreakable determination, the Israeli government, reluctant to start rebuilding Samaria, offered the pioneers a compromise. They settled at the nearby military camp of “Kadum,” and the community of Kedumim was born.

Fifty years later, Kedumim continues to radiate the same determined, forward-thinking spirit of its pioneering founders as demonstrated by Lehava, a religious high school in the community for girls. Lehava offers girls from communities throughout Samaria a curriculum based on Biblical principles. At the same time, Lehava is committed to providing all of its students with an education that gives them the tools and skills  to realize their true potential, laying the groundwork for them to have a promising, productive future.

Towards that end, with the help of generous CFOIC Heartland donors, Lehava created a space to function as an innovation center where students participate in learning activities that strengthen their skills in creativity, independent study and groupwork.  However, to fully actualize its vision for the innovation center, Lehava needs help in acquiring equipment including laptop computers, mobile room dividers, furnishings and big screens.
