About Avigayil

The small and isolated community of Avigayil was established in 2001 at the height of the Second Intifada, thanks to the unbreakable resilience of young pioneer Elisha Medan and a band of determined friends. Committed to guaranteeing a strong Jewish presence in the Hebron Hills, Elisha and his friends parked an old bus at a remote area facing the ancient Biblical site of Maon and established Avigayil. To this day, Avigayil is primarily composed of temporary living structures and underdeveloped infrastructure. Yet, the unwavering dedication of the community’s founders and pioneers have ensured that Avigayil will continuously stand as a symbol of resilience from the heart of the Hebron Hills.

Raising funds for their playground

Perched on a windswept hilltop in the Hebron Hills, the young community of Avigayil is home to brave families raising children in one of Israel’s most remote areas. Without a proper playground, children play on rocky terrain, and families lack a central place to gather. The residents of Avigayil are determined to build a safe and joyful playground—but they can’t do it alone. With your partnership, this dream can become a place of laughter, connection, and community spirit.
