A Visit With Shmuel: Givat Hanan

Join me now, as I enter Givat Hanan…

Givat Hanan represents the pioneering spirit in Judea and Samaria. Two years ago, in response to the increasing number of Arabs encroaching on Jewish land in the area, eleven young families, dedicated to protecting the Jewish claim to the land of their ancestors established a new neighborhood of Sussya. They willingly exchanged their comfortable homes in the already established community of Sussya with rickety, small, temporary caravans on a barren, undeveloped hilltop, adjacent to a small forest, for the privilege of protecting Jewish land.

Today, this young idealistic neighborhood numbers just eleven temporary homes on a slightly less barren hilltop. There is a small synagogue, a single outdoor play structure for the younger children, and an asphalt-paved basketball court for the older children, a recent upgrade from a basketball hoop nailed to a tree trunk. Life may be simple on this serene hill, yet it is rich with hope and purpose, where growing families raise their children on Biblical values while settling the Biblical Heartland.

It would be my pleasure to take you to Givat Hanan and introduce you in person to these dedicated, wonderful pioneers. But until then, join me for this virtual tour and get a sense of this inspiring community in the Hebron Hills.

God Bless,

Shmuel

Givat Hanan is our designated Community of the Month for January 2022. Thankfully, a generous CFOIC Heartland supporter contacted us as soon as she saw the need in Givat Hanan and donated the entire amount to cover the request for an indoor play center. What a blessing that is for the young pioneers of Sussya! Yet, there are many other isolated and vulnerable communities in Judea and Samaria, where brave pioneers are raising their children to love God, protect the Jewish claim to the Land, and dedicate themselves to fulfilling prophecy in the Land of Israel. You can reach out to the pioneers of Judea and Samaria by providing them with the resources they need to keep their families safe and provide them with their basic needs. Show them you care – Help them cling to the Land!.

An Eye on Zion: Kochav Yaakov

Just over a century later, a group of devout pioneers sharing the same love and passion for the Land of Israel, founded a new community just north of Jerusalem. Drawing their inspiration from Rabbi Yaakov Abuhatzeira, they named it “Abir Yaakov,” the same venerated title that was used to address the late Rabbi during his life. Subsequently renamed “Kochav Yaakov,” (“Star of Jacob”), the community has absorbed many Jews who, like Rabbi Abuhatzeira, left their respective countries of birth to live in the Land of Israel.

Life in a Villa in a Jungle

It is hard to believe that another year has gone by—another year of seemingly unending war, tragedy, loss. There are still 100 hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza. While at least 36 have been murdered, it is not clear how many of the remaining 64 are still alive.

An Eye on Zion: Bet Hagai

On Friday evening of May 2, 1980, a group of students from Nir Yeshiva, located on the outskirts of the Biblical city of Hebron, excitedly headed to the Cave of Machpelah. There, they joyfully welcomed in the Sabbath with uplifting prayers.
