About Har Gilo

Har Gilo is a thriving community located just south of Jerusalem, strategically positioned between Israel’s capital and ancient Bethlehem. Originally established in 1968 to house soldiers and staff of a field school run by the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel, the community has played a key role in strengthening Jerusalem and the surrounding region. What began as a small neighborhood of activist pioneers has evolved into a vibrant community consisting of over 450 families, young and old, very devout and less religious, all living together and united by a shared dedication to the rebuilding of Judea.
